The initial concept for the new contemporary housing development at Discovery Eola Clusters was aimed to engage younger families looking to live a steady lifestyle in the ever-growing environment at the southern point of Jakarta. Turns out through the old habits of constructions where cutting down costs in materials and finishes is considered to be necessary, its final products soon lost its magic and partly its initial identity, resulting a somewhat lack of flavor to gain interests from potential buyers.
In the wake of an ever-changing cycle of lifestyle, it has become clear that every individual yearns to experience something, a little bit more than the other next to them. It might be a space where one can take picture, or a brand where one can stands out amongst the rest. But ultimately, a sense of coolness and appeal has become its own commodity in the sense of experiencing life.
The renovation of one unit Athena house of the Discovery Eola Bintaro is a project not only just made to be a simple expression of architecture, but also a representation, a redefinition, and an act of self-preservation translated from within. Having to diffuse a vast selection of materials with a contemporary approach towards its design language, the redesigning of the Athena House serves as a prime example for future developments to express the congruity of balance and harmony for the future of modern living lifestyle.
The Athena House project was featured at the Bintaro Design District event which was held on October 2018, as a contribution to showcase the hidden growth of Jakarta’s design community. With the theme of “permeable society”, it was aimed to create an open dialogue on design to not only between creative thinkers and designers, but also to masses residing in Jakarta and its surrounding.
