Designed back in 2014, Patal Senayan is a house that embarks the idea of tranquility in dynamic with expressionism being this an establishment of cultural living in the midst of Jakarta’s busy environment. Having the idea of such expressiveness represented within the site, Patal Senayan goes even further with the use of regional patterns embedded to its overall design. From its use of materials, façade detailing, and spatial arrangements, it encourages itself to be a conscious settlement that represents the idea of traditional luxury, sustained gracefully through architecture.
With the applications of louver that signify the basic characteristics of tropical architecture, along with the use of natural materials throughout the house, Patal Senayan embraces the aesthetic senses of Indonesia’s vernacular characteristics in and out of the house. This helps the spatial experience to evoke the active energy of its atmosphere, encouraging its occupants into a proactive sense of lifestyle.
Patal Senayan uses many of its finishes with patterns and compositions most commonly found in tradition Batavian houses that bears the same feel and atmosphere. This strengthens the finished product of architecture to be the house that embraces romanticism at its core. Bearing the looks and feel of traditional and classical Indonesian characteristics into this project meant that not only the Patal Senayan house to not shy away on embracing old values but also reflecting its overall form with the identity that is Indonesian vernacular architecture.
