Suaka Marketing Gallery

One of the biggest dogma that has been around in the realm of architecture is that its design product must be able to give a unique spatial experience to the people, aiming to enhance the abstract quality of both spiritual an emotional among its occupants. Every idea interpreted into design should give the good flowing spaces, accompanied with valid technical elements, and other ecological means into its surrounding. On top of all that, one of the main rules is that architecture should give influences to the human senses, in which all elements such as the quality of light, materials, and textures, including noises and more to be manipulated to certain extent to evoke the emotional depths within every individual active in its spaces. The Suaka Marketing Gallery, is an answer to said dogma where all the values area not only to be met, but to be taken to a whole new level with the addition of one element often overlooked in the design community, intuition. It is a planned establishment that houses a number of uses such as an art gallery, a marketing office and a coffee shop is a part of one development among many for a new city that is located in a suburban area close to central Palembang. It is thought to be the new oasis for the growing neighborhood, with other uses of providing humanistic tranquility to the environment.

There are some approaches made into its design, some of which is the expansion of the structural surface to the building where having it to act as a spatial cover that envelops the gallery can be crafted of more use resulting added greenery to replace the same amount of vegetation that was reduced by the main establishment. Other intuitive design application that needs the proportionate implementation is the use of light be it natural or artificial. To strengthen the ambience of each space, the idea starts with the realization of a space as a character, and as an entity, that yearns to give inspirations, relieve, and perceptions beyond the common knowledge, focusing on sheer quality to make the Suaka Marketing Gallery a semi-permeable space that accommodates reflection and tranquility, and most importantly critical thinking for all individuals throughout many communities.

The sequence of entering the main facility is crafted with an extensive pathway, surrounded by the calming shades of existing local trees that acts as a fluid transition between the gallery and the outside world, yet as the pathway ends a ramp extends in sight as the main connective access, that circulates inside the main facility in an unequivocal manner, showcasing the need of less energy needed for such a broad piece of architecture.
